MNAC – Medieval Gothic Art

As is the case with a number of other museums in Barcelona, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Montjuïc offers free entry on the first Sunday of every month.
Taking advantage of this opportunity and with the intention of starting the year on the cultural-and-productive-foot, I checked out the permanent collection of Catalán Medieval and Gothic Art – and mostly saw a lot of gold, a lot of red and a lot of Jesus.

As usual, I spent the majority of my time on the lookout for any letterforms I could find (and was much more interested in this) rather than the art itself.

Variations of A, as well as what looks to be an OR ligature.

Extended stylistic serif details on the N.

RA ligature – A*RA*GON – and a gorgeous G.

Interesting stylistic detail on the right of the letterforms.

First S inside the halo seems to be drawn with two C shapes.

Double-C-shaped-S with serif – from photo above.

Crazy gothic serifs and details.

HEE 'monogram' on key.

ME, TE, DO, IM ligatures.

Even more endless ligatures – DA, LI, HO, NO, QV, VE, IT.
